Yeah, it's still just a Hallmark movie I'm rating it so highly only in comparison with other Hallmark movies. I adored the cast (to see Jessy in something after her stint as Cinderella on Once and of course, Jesse is no stranger to the role of Hallmark leading men) and the sweet “dancing” scene involving, yes, instruction on the art of dancing. Harvest Moon is fresh, with enjoyable characters and a decent plot.

Because of these things I confess I fell head over heels for this charmer. Going in blind, I hadn’t realized the script involved a single dad (as next week’s premiere also does) and best of all, oh my gosh, this ending is actually complete. I think what I liked most about this one were the surprises.

TV FILM REVIEW | A Country Wedding (2015) – A Texas Second Chance This is perhaps Hallmark’s greatest “weapon.” They have a knack for producing not only wholesome films (bravo to them for keeping to that moral compass) but films that tug at us or perhaps they play to the romantic in us, which Harvest Moon certainly does. I was impressed with it for a number of reasons, not the least of which was its sweet premise. Plus, Ben isn’t about to let the farm that’s been in his family for generations be sold without a fight.Ĭute, cute and cute! That pretty much sums up this film. Jennifer’s simple plan isn’t as easy as she anticipated. You see, on the farm resides Ben (Jesse Hutch) and his brother… and his aunt… and his daughter… and employees. Only when she arrives on the farm things aren’t quite as simple as she’d have hoped. But Jen has plans to sell the land, reclaim her life and move on. The one bright spot in her dismal circumstances involves a pumpkin farm, land her father bought in hopes of developing. You see, her father has lost all of money and Jen’s credit cards are declined, a kind of death sentence for the fashionista in her. This one tells the story of ritzy city girl Jennifer Stone (Jessy Schram), a woman who suddenly sees her upper crust lifestyle ripped from her. I seem to indulge in “just one more” no matter how many they introduce. Each seem to hold the kind of appeal a peanut butter cup has. No matter how many new films they continue to ply us with, speaking for myself, I’ll continue to return. During the autumn season, they have four newbies to share with Harvest Moon being their second in the line up. Christmas may be their most popular season, but as each year passes they progressively grow the number of originals they air. If there is one thing Hallmark does right, it’s the seasons.
